Crista Tips

Cardamom is best bought as whole pods that are plump and green; this usually sets the benchmark for quality. CRISTA strongly discourages the use of brown cardamom which has traces of camphor. Try dry roasting cardamom seeds before using in savory dishes; this enhances the flavor significantly. After a year, the pods will slowly fade in colour and aroma.

Green cardamom seeds are actually brown in colour but are called green cardamom. Cardamom is the third most expensive spice in the world after Saffron and Vanilla.

CRISTA QUALITY CONTROL TIP:

Spices should ideally be stored between 10 and 15 degrees Celsius. Under ideal conditions, ground spices will keep for a year and whole spices for 1 to 2 years. Tightly close the container immediately after use and return it to a cold storage space as soon as possible.
